SPECTRAL CELL
A women’s haute couture collection that reinterprets specific areas of natural science materializes into functional and wearable art pieces. Through conceptually highlighting the transition from dark to light and macro- to microcosm, new discoveries in the sculptural and color spectrums occur. In collaboration with RISD sculptor, Zoe Lohmann, both designers together developed an extensive exploration of silicone cast forms and textile experiments. Spectral Cell embraces tailoring techniques, digitally printed images on silk composed from Aracil’s original photography, and how all of his biological and metaphysical theories are born 3 dimensionally with the silicone cast textile. Through the interpretation of the extensive research, a sense of both spectral grotesqueness and elegance manifests upon the body.
